Mocho Spices is a community-based agro-processing venture located in the arid, high-altitude region of the Mocho Mountains, Clarendon. The enterprise was established to mitigate chronic post-harvest losses and low profit margins faced by local small-scale farmers due to the lack of irrigation and limited marketability of “unattractive” or undersized crops. Despite these environmental challenges, the dry climate yields crops with highly concentrated and palatable flavor profiles, a unique competitive advantage that Mocho Spices leverages to produce premium value-added goods. The product line currently features Scotch Bonnet Pepper Powder, Moringa Leaf Powder, and Jamaican Black Castor Oil, focusing on “clean-label” super-foods and traditional wellness solutions.
